My husband and I bought a house with the intention of passing it onto our grandchildren. My daughter is in a relationship with someone who wants to buy the house. They are currently renting the house from us. We have a mortgage with the credit union (I know better now)and still have 2.5 years left on the 5 yr mortgage. The credit union says he can assume the mortgage if he qualifies. The amount owing on the house is 302 plus change. It's a large house with a great back yard close to parks and the schools. We would like them to assume the mortgage because it would be cheaper in the long run. the interest is starting to come down. This allows him a credit rating right away. No cost to us. He can wait a year and remortgage if he chooses, or wait out the time on it. What do you think?
